Josianne Fleming-Artsen led the University of St. Martin for more than a decade and later represented Sint Maarten in The Hague as Minister Plenipotentiary.
University of St. Martin
She was president of the University of St. Martin (USM) until 2010, when, SMN News reported, she resigned from the university to pursue politics.
Minister Plenipotentiary
From December 2014 she was Sint Maarten's Minister Plenipotentiary in The Hague, in the cabinet of Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs. The Daily Herald reported in December 2014 that she would take up the post, moving up from Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary.
