The French side's 2024 Carnival was set to run from 2 to 14 February under a new organising committee, Le Pélican reported ahead of the launch.
According to Le Pélican, the adult parade was scheduled for 11 February at noon. A free carnival village was planned on the Marigot seafront from 11 to 14 February, giving residents and visitors a central place to gather during the final days.
The season had already warmed up in January. Le Pélican reported earlier that about 150 people took part in the first Get Fit to Fête session, a workout series designed to prepare revellers for the road.
Carnival on the French side takes place in the weeks before Lent, and the 2024 programme ran up to 14 February. Le Pélican presented the edition as the first under the new committee.
The parades, music and costumes draw crowds from both sides of the island each year.
