The festival was organised by the association La Bonne Note, led by jazz musician Paul Emmanuel, who runs the Paul Emmanuel School of Music in Grand Case and studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In an interview with Le 97150 before the event, he said he started the festival the year before because the island lacked one, while neighbouring islands such as Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Lucia and Barbados had their own.
On stage
According to Le 97150, the Paul Emmanuel Jazz-Funk Ensemble opened the evening, followed by the Mario Canonge Trio, led by the Martinique-born pianist. Emmanuel told the outlet he had invited Canonge after meeting him at the island's gastronomy festival the previous year.
Collectivité first vice-president Alain Richardson acted as master of ceremonies, and president Louis Mussington attended. Le 97150 reported that the Collectivité had supported the organisers and intended to keep backing the festival.
