According to The Daily Herald, Fish Da Mega Boss was first runner-up with 465 points and Ricky Da Phox second runner-up with 455.

A full season again

The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) set the 2023 season from 14 April to 3 May, 21 days under the slogan "Come, Experience Life", The Daily Herald reported when the calendar came out. The foundation called it the first normal Carnival since its 50th anniversary in 2019, after two pandemic years and a difficult 2022. It also brought back the full set of road events, including J'ouvert, and avoided scheduling events in Holy Week or parades on Sundays.

The King and Queen of the Band contests also came back after about 20 years. Cleo Carti was crowned Queen of the Band on 30 April with her "Spirit of the Salt" costume, the newspaper reported.
