This directory lists car rental companies on both sides of the island, with contact details taken from each company's own website. SXM Daily checks the listings regularly. A listing is not an endorsement: confirm prices, insurance and cover for driving on the other side of the island directly with the company before you book.

Before you rent
On the Dutch side, car rental companies need a Car Rental Permit from the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT). On September 7, 2026, the government published a list of 48 car rental operators that completed its 2026 confirmation process. The list says inclusion "does not constitute endorsement, certification, recommendation, or quality assessment." A company missing from that list may still have filed late, so check with the company or TEATT if in doubt.
