The Daily Herald and StMaartenNews both put the hotel at 28 suites. The Herald reported that the partnership made it the smallest branded hotel property in St. Maarten.
From four rooms
Managing director Ralph Hellebrand recalled at the ceremony that the hotel had only four rooms when it opened in 2015, and that he handed out flyers at the nearby Heineken Regatta to fill them, StMaartenNews reported. He told the Herald the hotel had met Best Western at the St. Maarten Annual Regional Tradeshow (SMART) in May 2025, and that SureStay Collection is a franchise format for hotels with fewer than 50 rooms. He said the hotel would gain Best Western's loyalty programme and support in housekeeping, IT and sales.
Officials
Tourism Minister Grisha Heyliger-Marten told guests the announcement showed St. Maarten was a destination worth investing in, and said the benefits would reach taxi drivers, shops and restaurants. A letter from Prime Minister Luc Mercelina, who could not attend, was read out, StMaartenNews reported. The People's Tribune also covered the ceremony.
