Cyrille Le Vély took office as prefect of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy on Monday 10 February 2025, Faxinfo reported. He succeeded Vincent Berton as the French State's representative on the two islands.

The change at the top of the prefecture was also covered by the Journal de Saint-Barth, which reported in a preview that Le Vély would succeed Berton. That preview placed the handover ceremony on Tuesday 11 February; SXM Daily uses the 10 February date reported by Faxinfo for his taking office.

In remarks reported by Faxinfo after his arrival, the new prefect said he wanted to be a prefect who listens, is accessible and is present on the ground.

The prefect represents the French State in the two collectivités.
