Representatives from the Dutch and French sides of the island took part together for the first time in the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) workshops and Annual General Assembly, held in Curaçao from October 15 to 19, 2026, StMaartenNews.com reported, citing a Sint Maarten Sports Federation (SMSF) release.

Who attended

The delegation was SMSF President Naomi Korstanje and Executive Board Member Kimberly Reyes-Puello, with Virginie Carien, President of the Comité Territorial Olympique de Saint-Barthélemy et Saint-Martin (CTOS SBSM), and its Sports Director Peggy Oulerich. CTOS SBSM was recently admitted to CANOC.

An MOU, not yet signed

The two organisations have committed to developing a strategic Memorandum of Understanding. No agreement has been signed, and specific arrangements have yet to be announced.
