Gregory Pigeon of SXM Tri Academy finished second in 3:14:24 and Fabien Husson of St. Barths was third in 3:19:50, the Herald reported. Pigeon had won the full marathon in 2023 but ran the half marathon in 2024 because of a knee injury. Le Pélican also covered the race and its podium.
In the winner's words
De Fossey told the Herald it was his first marathon. He led all the way but felt muscle pain in the final kilometres, and said two wrong turns added several hundred metres and cost him a finish under three hours.
The other races
According to Le Pélican, the women's marathon was won by Ariana Behtash of St. Barth in 4:33:30. The Herald reported that Olivier Basset won the Tortuga Half Marathon in 1:33:16, Stephen Seymour won the Country Club Port de Plaisance 10K in 43:16, and Nahjah Wyatte won the 5K run and walk in 20:34.
The Herald said the event was fully subscribed: 53 runners finished the full marathon, 92 the half marathon, 91 the 10K and 141 the 5K run and walk. The half marathon finish line was at Fort Amsterdam.
