Reported 14 August 2024.
Utility company NV GEBE connected 10 MW of containerized generators to its grid on Tuesday 13 August 2024, according to a GEBE statement reported by The Daily Herald. GEBE said its team had worked through Tropical Storm Ernesto to finish the job.
Less load shedding
The company said the extra 10 MW should bring a significant drop in load shedding, unless its existing engines and generators ran into further technical problems.
The 20 MW project
The 10 MW units were separate from GEBE's 20 MW power plant project at Cay Bay. In an update in November 2024, reported by Soualiga Newsday, GEBE said the infrastructure for that project was in place. Shipping of key equipment, including storage tanks, had been delayed by more than 18 days, and the tanks were being installed.
