The island's main international airport is Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM), on the Dutch side. Grand Case handles regional and business flights.
Who runs it
Since 1 April 2011, the airport has been operated by SESMA (Société d'Exploitation de St Martin Aéroport), a subsidiary of the Edeis group. It runs the airport under a 25-year public-service contract, according to the airport's own website.
The runway
The airport has a single runway of 1,203 metres (3,946 feet), close to the beach, according to the operator.
In 2022, the runway, taxiway and commercial apron were resurfaced. Faxinfo reported that the work was done at night from 7 April 2022, with finishing work planned until September 2022, so air traffic was not disrupted.
