An after-hours GP clinic, Huisartsen Post (HAP), opened at St. Maarten Diagnostic Center on Airport Road, Simpson Bay, in September 2023, The Daily Herald reported.

Huisartsen Post (HAP), an after-hours general practitioner service, opened at St. Maarten Diagnostic Center (SMDC) on Airport Road in Simpson Bay, The Daily Herald reported on 18 September 2023.
At the opening ceremony, SMDC chief financial officer Dr. Danny Dennaoui credited his father, Dr. Michael Dennaoui, with identifying the need for the post about five years earlier, according to the Herald. Social and Health Insurances (SZV) director Glen Carty said that most doctors' offices closed between 5 and 6 p.m., leaving patients with little choice but the emergency room, and that the post could reduce non-emergency ER visits.
Public Health Minister Omar Ottley said in a release that the clinic saw 60 patients on its first day, a Saturday, the paper reported.
Opening hours
According to the Herald, HAP was set to open Monday to Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight, on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon.
