Tammy became a Category 1 hurricane on Friday 20 October 2023, and Sint Maarten's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated at 12:23 pm that day, the Government of Sint Maarten announced. After the storm

In her third and final post-storm update on Monday 23 October, Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs, who chaired the EOC, said schools would reopen on Tuesday 24 October and that the EOC would be deactivated, according to the government release published by SXMElections. Military assistance ended that evening.

The Ministry of VROMI dug out part of the flood-prone Mullet Bay Road to lower the water. Beacon Hill Road was still flooded, and pumping trucks were due to start there on Tuesday morning.

No insurance payout

The Caribbean catastrophe insurer CCRIF said its model estimated government losses for Sint Maarten and six other islands, but all were below the level that triggers a payout under their policies.
