Jeannot Gouin won the half marathon at the 2024 BDO Half Marathon in 1 hour 32 minutes 7 seconds, The Daily Herald reported on 5 May 2024. The race, hosted by Country Club Port de Plaisance, had 52 half-marathon runners.
Gouin said afterwards that the field started slowly, and that the hills, the humidity and keeping focused made it a tough race, according to the Herald.
A big turnout
The event had four categories with separate start times, and the half marathon set off first, the paper said. A total of 229 athletes took part across all categories, including some from Saba, Aruba, Belgium and the United States.
St. Maarten Road Runners president Krispijn Teunissen thanked the police on both sides of the island, as well as the sponsors and volunteers, according to the Herald.
