The former Westin Dawn Beach reopened as a JW Marriott resort in March 2024
Nearly seven years after Hurricane Irma, the 200-room former Westin at Dawn Beach reopened in March 2024 as the JW Marriott St Maarten Beach Resort and Spa.

The former Westin Dawn Beach resort on the Dutch side reopened in the first week of March 2024 as the JW Marriott St Maarten Beach Resort and Spa, Caribbean Journal reported. After Hurricane Irma in 2017 the 200-room property had sat in varying states of disrepair for nearly seven years, with only former timeshare owners able to use it.
Caribbean Journal said it was the second JW Marriott on a Caribbean island, after Santo Domingo, and the brand's first Caribbean beach resort.
What reopened
The St. Maarten Tourism Bureau described a 200-room resort on Dawn Beach with three restaurants: Liguria (coastal Mediterranean), Carambola (casual island food) and Breeze at the pool and beach. It also has the Hibiscus Spa with 16 treatment rooms, a JW Bar and a grab-and-go market.
