Sint Maarten to host first Kingdom Summit on Nov 17–18; MP Lacroes questions what it adds

Sint Maarten will host the first-ever Kingdom Summit of the governments of Aruba, Curaçao, the Netherlands and Sint Maarten on November 17 and 18, the Government of Sint Maarten and the Dutch government announced on October 1.
What the summit is
The summit is a high-level meeting between the four governments, not their parliaments, on strengthening cooperation within the Kingdom. Each country will present a "State of the Nation", in which the prime ministers reflect on successes and challenges and point to areas for new or closer cooperation. The governments say they also want more continuity and coherence in their periodic consultations.
"Sint Maarten looks forward to welcoming the governments of Aruba, Curaçao, and the Netherlands for this first Kingdom Summit. By working together while remaining mindful of our differences, we are building a stronger and future-ready Kingdom," Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina said in the release.
The venue, agenda and cost of the summit have not been published.
Lacroes's questions
United People's party (UP) MP Francisco Lacroes has questioned what the summit will add. In a statement published October 1, he noted that Sint Maarten also hosts the next Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation (IPKO), the meeting of the four parliaments, less than two months later.
Lacroes asked for the summit's agenda, the decisions it is expected to produce and what authority it will have. He also raised cost, saying "every guilder has to be justified," and argued that the summit could undercut IPKO reforms led by Parliament President Sarah Wescot-Williams. He acknowledged that the summit is a meeting between governments, while IPKO brings together parliaments.
IPKO in January
The IPKO meets in Sint Maarten from January 13 to 15, 2027, according to the Dutch House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer).
