Reported 23 October 2026

The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) and the Marines have carried out several joint controls over the past days and weeks, including during the week of October 20, 2026, KPSM said in a press release.

Who is involved

According to KPSM, the Marines are currently training on the island. They are working side by side with KPSM officers on the road during these operations.

What the controls check

KPSM said the controls focus on safety and security and on traffic safety. Officers stopped vehicles and people and checked them for compliance with the drugs and firearms laws.

KPSM described the joint controls as part of its ongoing efforts to keep the community safe and to promote responsible behaviour on the roads. It thanked the Marines for their support and cooperation.

What drivers should expect

KPSM said the controls will continue in the coming period, at different times and locations. It asked the public to cooperate with officers during the controls and to carry all required documents.

The release did not give the number of vehicles or people checked, and it gave no arrest figures.

How to contact the police

Anyone with information that can help keep the community safe can call the Philipsburg Police Station at 1721 542 2222, or the anonymous tip line at 9300.
