House fire in La Savane sends three people to hospital
Three people were taken to hospital after a house fire in La Savane in the early hours of Thursday, October 15, 2026; 11 firefighters attended and the cause has not been determined.

Three people were taken to hospital after a house fire in La Savane, on the French side of the island, in the early hours of Thursday, October 15, 2026.

Update, October 16: Firefighters brought a man out unconscious from the first floor of the house, the Saint-Martin fire service (STIS 978) said in a statement relayed by Faxinfo and Le97150. Two other people were affected by smoke. In total, three victims were taken to Louis-Constant Fleming Hospital, according to the fire service. Eleven firefighters attended, and the fire was out at around 6 a.m.
Guadeloupe La 1ère and France-Antilles also reported that three people were taken to hospital. SXM Daily has not confirmed their condition.
France-Antilles reported that the cause of the fire has not been determined. Authorities have not published a statement on the cause.
