According to EEASM, the project upgraded the water supply network and added a wastewater collection network in the La Savane section of the RN7. The utility said the works were needed to meet the future needs of residents and of the new Collège 900, and to make the territory's water and sanitation infrastructure more resilient.
Night works only
To avoid the usual traffic jams at La Savane, EEASM said crews would work every night from 8 PM to 5 AM, with the road reopened to traffic from 7 AM. EEASM president Raphael Sanchez said the timing was based on studies of traffic flows, since the road between La Savane and Grand Case is nearly clear after 8 PM.
During the weekly Mardis de Grand Case street festival, Faxinfo reported, work could start later, from 10 PM, so as not to disrupt the festivities. Drivers were asked to wait their turn at the controlled passage and plan their journeys around the works.
