Reported 25 March 2024.
Patrice Vergriete, France's minister delegate for transport (ministre délégué aux Transports), inaugurated the new ferry terminal in Marigot on Saturday 23 March 2024, SoualigaPost reported.
According to SoualigaPost, the project received €1,498,251 from FEDER REACT-EU, the European Union's recovery funding channelled through the regional development fund.
The outlet noted that, at the time of the ceremony, no date had yet been set for the terminal to open to the public. The inauguration therefore marked the formal handover of the building rather than the start of regular passenger use.
Marigot's waterfront is the departure point for ferries linking the French side with neighbouring islands, so the terminal matters to residents, workers and visitors who travel by sea. A modern building was expected to improve conditions for passengers waiting for boats.
SoualigaPost's report of the ceremony was published on 25 March 2024, two days after the inauguration. The date for passenger use was left to be announced later.
