Octobre Rose en Mouvement: self-exam awareness, aquagym and longe-côte at Friar's Bay on Saturday, Oct 24

The Comité Territorial Olympique et Sportif (CTOS) des Îles du Nord and the Friendly Longe-Côte club are holding Octobre Rose en Mouvement, a breast cancer awareness morning, at Friar's Bay beach on Saturday, October 24, according to Le Pélican and Soualiga Post.

What's planned
The morning combines a breast self-examination awareness session with aquagym and longe-côte, or sea walking, in the water, according to Le Pélican.

Registration is required. Le97150 reports that it is free and closes at midday on Friday, October 23.
Where to get screened (French side)
Under France's national organised screening programme, women aged 50 to 74 with no symptoms and no particular risk factors are invited for a mammogram every two years, and the exam is fully covered, according to the Assurance Maladie (page updated May 2026). Since January 1, 2024, the invitations have come from the Assurance Maladie rather than the regional screening centre (CRCDC), the CRCDC says.
About 200 women a year are diagnosed with breast cancer in Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, and about fifty die of it, according to the CRCDC (2026).
In Saint-Martin, the CRCDC's 2026 list of approved screening radiologists gives one practice: 2 rue Paul Mingau, Concordia, tel. 0590 87 89 24.
