A delegation from the Parliament of Sint Maarten visited Fundashon Prevenshon, the Caribbean Prevention Centre in Curaçao, on Wednesday 14 October 2026, a day before the Tripartite meeting of the parliaments of Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, according to SXM Today (15 October) and Soualiga Newsday.
The group was made up of President of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams and MPs Sjamira Roseburg, Lyndon Lewis and Raeyhon Peterson, both outlets reported.
The foundation's director, Louise Elstak, briefed the MPs on Curaçao's prevention-focused approach to healthcare, including screening programmes for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer and a lifestyle screening programme aimed at preventing non-communicable diseases. The briefing also covered patient follow-up, financing, quality control and cooperation with hospitals, healthcare providers and the Civil Registry.
According to both reports, the delegation said it was interested in looking at whether parts of Curaçao's model could be adapted for Sint Maarten.
Later the same day, Wescot-Williams, Roseburg and Lewis, joined by MPs Omar Ottley and Dimar Labega, visited the Joint Court of Justice, where Tahirah de Lanoy, branch manager of the court's Curaçao office, gave a presentation that focused on appeal cases across the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom.
No statement on the visit had been posted on Parliament's website, sxmparliament.org, when SXM Daily checked.
