The project

Semsamar said the new building has 8,112 m² of floor space, costs €9 million before tax and is co-financed by the regional health agency ARS and European FEDER funds. Works were planned to last 18 months. The architect is Atelier Galloni, with the engineering firm Egis.

According to Le 97150, the extension is meant to raise the hospital's capacity by about 15%, from 92 to 106 beds and places, including critical-care beds to avoid some medical evacuations off the island. The hospital opened in 2003.
