Reported 4 April 2024.
SEMSAMAR, the social housing company, inaugurated new shared facilities in its residences in Quartier d'Orléans on 22 March 2024: a multi-activity hall and a set of neighbourhood promenades, according to the company.
In an update published on 4 April, SEMSAMAR said the works cost €2.58 million. According to the company, 63% of that amount was co-funded by FEDER, the European Regional Development Fund.
The new hall gives residents a covered space for activities and gatherings, while the promenades are meant to make it easier and more pleasant to move around the neighbourhood on foot. SEMSAMAR presented the project as part of its work to improve daily life in its housing estates, not just the homes themselves.
Quartier d'Orléans is on the eastern side of the French part of the island. FEDER, the EU fund that met most of the bill, regularly co-finances public works on the French side.
The inauguration took place on 22 March 2024; SEMSAMAR's own write-up followed on 4 April.
