St. Maarten Academy reports 318 Grade Ones and 100% Form 5 matriculation in 2026 CSEC exams

St. Maarten Academy says its 126 CSEC candidates earned 318 Grade Ones this year, with 90.1% of results at Grades I to III. All 88 Form 5 students passed at least six subjects, and Jeremiah Cantave led the class with 11 Grade Ones.

By SXM Daily ·

St. Maarten Academy says its students earned 318 Grade One results in the May–June 2026 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams. All 88 of its Form 5 students passed at least six subjects, which the school counts as 100% matriculation for the Class of 2026.

The figures come from the school's own results release, which was published to mark World Teachers' Day on October 5. Neither the regional exam board nor the education ministry has published figures confirming them.

The numbers

According to the school, 126 candidates sat exams in 23 subjects. Of these, 88 were in Form 5, 34 in Form 4 and 4 in Form 3.

  • 90.1% of results were at Grades I to III, the grades the school counts as acceptable.

  • 72.1% were at Grade I or II.

  • 318 results, or 33.9%, were Grade Ones.

  • 82 of the 88 Form 5 students (93.2%) passed five or more subjects, including both Mathematics and English A.

The last figure matters for students' next steps. The school describes five passes including Mathematics and English A as the benchmark most often asked for in further study and employment.

Top performers

Jeremiah Cantave led the class with 11 Grade Ones and a Grade Two in Caribbean History, the school said.

Five other students earned nine Grade Ones each: Ashmini Persaud, Atarah Baptiste, Maya Curiel, Hadassah Isaac and Xinyi Feng.

Subjects and teachers

Twelve subjects had a 100% pass rate, according to the release. Some of the strongest results by subject were:

  • Electronic Document Preparation and Management: all 31 candidates earned Grade I. The class was taught by Kester Small.

  • Physical Education and Sport: all 15 candidates earned Grade I. The class was taught by Ranish Sullivan.

  • English A: all 112 candidates passed, 88 of them at Grade I.

Why it matters

CSEC results determine where Form 5 students can go next, whether that is sixth form, college abroad or work.

What we don't know yet

The release does not compare this year's results with the Academy's 2025 results. SXM Daily has not seen 2026 CSEC results from other secondary schools on the island. We will report on them if they are published.
