She finished the Leerling Bestrijdingstechnicus (trainee pest control technician) programme at KAD, the Dutch pest and wildlife expertise centre in the Netherlands. She also completed the General Household Pests and Wood-Destroying Organisms foundation courses through Pest Management University, followed by its three-day GHP Masters course on identifying and managing household and structural pests.
According to the release, Somersall hopes her example will encourage more women to consider careers in pest management, a field long dominated by men, from fieldwork to running a business.
Steflogix was founded in 2012 and is based on Union Road in Cole Bay, according to its website. Alongside pest management, it offers food safety training and HACCP services and disinfection work.
