The SXM Chess Club will send four players to the Puerto Rico 2026 team championship on Friday, 6 November, its first international outing in decades, and is looking for sponsors.

The SXM Chess Club, which Le Pélican describes as the only chess club on the French side, will send four players to the Puerto Rico 2026 team championship on Friday, 6 November 2026, Le Pélican reported on 15 October. The club is taking part by invitation.
According to Le Pélican, it will be the club's first international outing in decades, against about 25 other teams. The club is looking for sponsors to cover the trip and also has plans for a schools championship.
