Reported 30 January 2025.

The St. Maarten Tourism Bureau (STB) began running a four-page spread on the island in Canada's Travelweek magazine on 30 January 2025, according to the Tourism Bureau. The promotion followed a December 2024 familiarisation trip by 10 top-selling Canadian travel agents.

The agents, from Ontario and Quebec, came on Travelweek's annual "Annie on the Run" trip, led by the magazine's vice president of media and content strategy, Annie Cicvaric, according to the Tourism Bureau. More than 400 agents applied for the 10 places. Earlier editions went to Jamaica, Barbados, Grand Cayman and Antigua and Barbuda.

What the agents did

The Tourism Bureau said the trip aimed to inspire and educate Canadian travel professionals with a race, food tastings, hotel visits and a community service project. The group ran the 5 km race at the Ennia marathon event as Team Canada, and volunteered at the New Start Home Orphanage.

Air Canada provided the flights, and Divi Little Bay Resort and Sonesta Maho Resort & Casino were the hotel partners, according to the Tourism Bureau.
