Xavier Lédée to seek re-election as President of Saint-Barthélemy in 2027

Xavier Lédée, President of the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy since 2022, will run for re-election in the next territorial elections, he said in a video posted on Friday 16 October 2026, Le Pélican reported.

The video was published on his Facebook page, according to Le Pélican. In it, he spoke of having "the same determination" to stay involved, and said he wanted to keep working on issues including autonomy, the environment and quality of life. Le Pélican did not link to the video.

The first round of the territorial elections in St. Barth is set for Sunday 14 March 2027, the paper said.

Le Pélican recalled that Lédée entered politics in 2012 as a territorial councillor alongside former president Bruno Magras. He led his own list, "Unis pour Saint-Barthélemy", in 2017, and came first in the 2022 vote through an alliance with the "Saint-Barth Action-Équilibre" list. The 2027 race will be his third campaign, according to the paper.

St. Barth, like Saint-Martin, has been a separate overseas collectivity of France since 2007, and its territorial council elects the island's president.
