Reported 26 January 2026.

Two family parks planned for Marigot, one at Galisbay and one on the Front de mer, would be delivered in 2026, Collectivité de Saint-Martin president Louis Mussington said in his New Year address, published by the Collectivité on 26 January 2026. In September 2025, both had been due by the end of that year.

What was planned

SoualigaPost reported in September 2025 that the Collectivité, through the department led by second vice-president Bernadette Davis, was building a shaded, landscaped public park for families at Galisbay, near the Grand Saint-Martin. Plans included rest areas, small covered shelters, ground-level games for children, toilets and public lighting, with play structures to follow. The site was to be secured with set opening hours. According to SoualigaPost, the works were being carried out by the Collectivité's own technical services at a cost of €600,000.

The second space, on the Front de mer next to the fish market, was designed as a fully fenced inclusive play area, built first and foremost for children with autism spectrum disorders. SoualigaPost described it as a project close to the president's heart, estimated at €150,000 and still at the study stage at the time.

The new timeline

In his 2026 address, Mussington listed the two family parks among the projects due that year, alongside landscaping and tree planting in several districts and the delivery of the Collège 600 and Collège 900 secondary schools.
